• Shop Local North Island

    About the Shop Local Movement
We are thrilled to be teaming up with the Port McNeill Chamber of Commerce and multiple partners to build a shop local mindset throughout our region.
This campaign aims to illustrate, through education and awareness raising, the importance of shopping where you live. Funded by the Government of Canada and delivered through provincial and territorial chambers of commerce, the Shop Local initiative provides grants for programs and campaigns that encourage Canadians to shop local to help businesses navigate through and beyond the pandemic. The federal government is investing $33 million in the initiative across Canada, of which project funds of $5 million are earmarked for British Columbia. The Port Hardy Chamber was awarded $59,125 for its proposal to create and implement our own unique North Island campaign.
By hiring local contractors, and buying all of our marketing materials, advertising and supplies locally, we are proud to say that the entire grant will be spent right here where we live.
